Forks Over Knives

After watching the life changing film "Forks over Knives" (Which can be seen on netflix streaming) I am making a lifestyle change that is going to save me. I am going to be eating a whole foods, plant-based diet, or in other words I will be vegan. It is not going to be easy, and it is not going to be fun (at first) but I am ready for the healthy me that has been begging to get out, to be free.

I will be posting how this lifestyle change goes for me, provide tips, important health facts and quotes from the film, recipes, and what I will be eating. Feel free to follow!

Confession Time:

I fell off the vegan wagon. It has been a little over a week since the falling, but don’t worry! I’m hopping back on the day after Valentines day. I’m doing this for my health, and I will not just give up like all of the other diets. The momentary lapse (A little longer than momentary…) will be over in a couple of days, and then I will be back on my way to being healthy.  :)

Two weeks as a vegan!

Two weeks have gone by and things are still going pretty good. Although when I’m hungry I think ‘what should I have for lunch…..pizza…..taco bell…..chinese……MEAT.” So that part still sucks. A couple of times I would even drive in the direction of establishments that primarily sell meat, and at the last minute I turn around. Then I got to thinking about Valentines day. No chocolate!! UGH. That is going to SUCK.

My friends who are also going vegan have decided to eat meat once a month. I may do this as well. That way I can settle my cravings, and go right back to being a vegan the next day. They also have an awesome diet/vegan blog, check it out! http://biggestloser-lynch.tumblr.com/

There is not much to say this week. I haven’t really been making any cool vegan recipes, but mostly because I’m lazy. I shall keep you updated and I will continue to add inspiring posts :)

“Near the beginning of the 20th century Americans each ate about 120lbs of meat annually, by 2007 that figure had exploded to no less than 222lbs. In 1913 we ate about 40lbs of processed sugar each per year, however by 1999 our consumption of all refined sweeteners had risen to over 147lbs. In 1909 Americans consumed around 294lbs of dairy products a piece, but by 2006 our yearly intake of dairy had more than doubled to 605lbs.” -Forks over Knives
